Mise

Privacy policy

Effective 20 August 2026

This policy explains how OÜ Gears of Sumo handles information when you use Mise, our recipe management application. Mise is currently in development, and this policy will be updated if its data practices change before or after release.

The short version

  • Mise has no advertising or behavioural analytics.
  • You can begin using Mise without providing an email address.
  • Recipes and related content are stored on your device and on our systems so Mise can import, sync, and share them.
  • Camera, photo-library, clipboard, and notification access are used only when you choose the related feature.
  • Publishing a recipe share makes that recipe available to anyone with the public link and may allow search engines to index it.

Who is responsible for your information

Information Mise processes

How we use information

We use the information above to:

Device permissions and local storage

Mise stores a working copy of recipes, notes, preferences, cooking progress, and pending changes on your device so the app can work offline. Authentication credentials are kept in protected device storage where the operating system provides it.

Camera and photo-library access let you photograph or select recipe material. Notification permission lets Mise notify you when an import finishes. These permissions are optional and can be changed in your device settings. Mise does not request microphone, contacts, or location access.

Sharing with other people

If you publish a recipe share, the recipe, its source information, photo, and any attached note become available at a public link. Anyone with that link can view the content, and public share links may be indexed by search engines. Deleting the source recipe or your account removes its public share from Mise.

If you share a collection with another Mise user, collection members can see and edit its recipes and notes. Members may also see the email addresses associated with other signed-in members of that collection. Mise uses an entered email address to find an existing Mise account; it does not send an invitation to an address that is not registered.

Service providers

We use specialist service providers to operate Mise. They may process information only as needed to provide their services, subject to contractual and legal privacy and security obligations. These services include:

Importing a web link may also cause the named website to be accessed by the import service. We do not sell personal data, use it for third-party advertising, or use cross-app tracking identifiers.

Legal bases and international processing

Where the GDPR applies, we process core app and account information because it is necessary to provide Mise at your request. We rely on your choice or consent for optional permissions and sharing features, and on our legitimate interests to secure, maintain, and troubleshoot the service. We may process information when required by law.

Some service providers operate outside Estonia or the European Economic Area. When personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on the safeguards required by applicable data-protection law.

Retention and deletion

You can delete your account from Mise’s Settings screen. Account deletion removes the account and its recipes, notes, stored images, imports, collections, and public shares from our active systems. You can also contact us at the address above to request deletion.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or receive a copy of your personal data, and to object to certain processing. You may withdraw consent for optional permissions at any time in your device settings without affecting earlier lawful processing.

To exercise a privacy right, contact us using the email above. We may need to verify that the request relates to you. You also have the right to complain to the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate or your local supervisory authority.

Security

We use technical and organizational safeguards intended to protect information in transit and at rest and to limit access to systems and account data. No method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Mise develops or legal requirements change. The effective date above will be revised when we make a material update.
